Dr. Vakiener graduated Summa Cum Laude from Union College in Schenectady, where he was also elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He earned his Medical Degree from Albany Medical College and he served a one-year internship there as well. He was a resident in Internal Medicine for two years at Albany Medical Center and served as Chief Resident. He worked as an instructor and Fellow in Cardiology at the University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital and held those same positions at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Dr. Vakiener has been practicing Cardiology in Schenectady since 1985.
Dr. Vakiener is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. His professional interests include non-invasive cardiac testing and clinical cardiology.
